The Interior Architecture & Design program at Utah State University is a CIDA-accredited leader, holding the distinction of being the first in the state to receive this recognition. Ranked eighth nationally for value in Interior Design Education, the program has built a strong reputation for winning national and international design competitions. With approximately 100 undergraduate majors, our faculty are dedicated experts in preparing designers for professional success. The curriculum is highly competitive, requiring students to pass a first-year portfolio review and a second-year review to continue. Students gain real-world experience through a mandatory six-week internship, active participation in professional associations like ASID and IIDA, and travel opportunities to prominent design venues and historic sites. Our graduates enter the job market with robust portfolios, often passing the LEED Green Associate exam early in their careers, and go on to become leaders in the design profession.
We are seeking an Assistant Professor to join our tenure-track team in the Department of Art and Design. This position offers the opportunity to teach undergraduate and graduate interior architectural design studios and lecture courses, fostering a collaborative environment within the design disciplines. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment to teaching and working with students, while also engaging in academic or creative scholarship, including grant writing and publishing high-quality research. You will play a vital role in maintaining our CIDA accreditation and contributing to department, college, and university service. This role is ideal for a scholar-practitioner who is eager to connect with the design industry and provide service to the profession at national, state, and local levels.
