The Assistant Petroleum, Oils, and Lubricants (POL) Superintendent serves as a critical member of the management team at a U.S. Navy installation, specifically supporting Naval Support Facility (NSF) DG. This position is dedicated to ensuring the uninterrupted, mission-critical fueling capability required by tenant commands, user activities afloat, and ashore operations.
In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of fuel terminals and liquid fuel systems, coordinating seamlessly with contractor management, employees, and U.S. Government personnel across all annexes. Your primary mission is to maintain operational readiness, efficiency, and strict environmental compliance for all POL systems, including storage, distribution, and aviation fuel support. You will act as the bridge between technical execution and strategic oversight, ensuring that all activities align with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), Navy regulations, and Department of Defense policies.
Your work involves managing the full lifecycle of liquid fuel operations, from receipt and storage to transfer and distribution. You will supervise fuel system technicians and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for critical infrastructure, including tanks, pumps, pipelines, valves, meters, and filtration systems. A significant portion of your day will be spent ensuring the safe functionality of pressure-type hydrant and pantograph fuel systems while coordinating with related support areas such as fire protection, logistics, and facility services.
You will also be responsible for conducting inspections, verifying quality assurance, and maintaining accurate records of fuel inventories and maintenance schedules. While the role focuses on daily operational excellence, it also requires readiness for contingency fueling operations and emergency response activities. Flexibility is key, as the mission may require after-hours, weekend, or on-call availability to support critical naval operations.
