About the Role
As an Armed Security Transportation Officer based in Newark, NJ, you will be responsible for the safe and secure transportation of detainees. This role requires maintaining constant mental alertness while operating as a driver or passenger in a transportation vehicle. You will ensure the safety and security of all detainees during transit, manage all necessary documentation, and safeguard detainee records and possessions at all times.
The position involves conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring all required equipment (such as first aid kits and security devices) is present, and maintaining accurate vehicle maintenance and service records. You will report for work at scheduled times, which may include stationary guard posts like hospital duty, and must be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The role often involves long-distance travel, which may require overnight hotel stays due to on-duty hour restrictions.
You will work in an environment where you may be exposed to individuals with unknown medical histories, presenting potential risks of contagious air and blood-borne pathogens. Success in this role requires the ability to maintain a valid Armed Guard/Firearms permit, pass periodic firearms recertification, and adhere to strict training curricula including Use of Force, Tactics, and Weapon Safety.

Requirements
