As an Apprentice Engineer with Hines, you will assist in the operation and maintenance of various building systems and equipment across our properties. This role is designed to help you become knowledgeable about engineering field responsibilities while supporting the daily functionality of our facilities. You will work as part of a cooperative team, applying basic knowledge in HVAC distribution and controls to resolve work orders and maintain established operating criteria.
Your day will involve performing preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, including pumps, chillers, boilers, and air handling units. You will also manage water treatment chemical programs, maintain detailed operation logs, and provide prompt, courteous responses to tenant requests. A key part of your responsibilities includes participating in emergency procedures, such as directing building occupants during evacuations, assisting with bomb searches, and supporting life safety system alarms. You will also develop a strong understanding of fire alarm and life safety systems at your assigned property.
