About the Program
The Afterschool Program provides a safe, caring, and engaging environment for children from kindergarten through sixth grade. Our mission is to foster healthy relationships among youth while offering a supportive space for recreation, learning, and growth during before-school, after-school, and summer hours.
About the Role
As an Afterschool Program Staff member, you will be the face of our program, responsible for supervising and instructing children in various recreational activities. You will serve as a positive role model, ensuring a secure environment where students feel supported and engaged. A key part of your day involves mentoring Afterschool Aides and Volunteers, guiding them in their classroom duties to maintain high standards of care.
Your day will be dynamic and active. You will greet families and children daily, manage daily attendance, and facilitate group activities. The role requires significant physical engagement, including walking up to two miles daily during program hours to assist with field trips or supervise active play. You will work closely with teachers and parents, maintaining strict confidentiality regarding student information while communicating effectively with diverse families and staff.
Hiring Process
Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted directly by the hiring team. The process includes a review of qualifications, including the required Vermont Afterschool credentials or equivalent education, and a verification of CPR-First Aid certification (or a commitment to complete it within three months). Successful candidates will be expected to complete all required in-service training programs and pre-hours for DCC and STARS regulations prior to or immediately upon starting.
