Aircraft Washer

About the Role

The Aircraft Washer is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of aircraft and their components. This role is critical to flight safety and asset preservation, ensuring that aircraft are free from grease, dirt, oil, fungus, and stains that could compromise performance. The position involves a hands-on approach to aircraft care, utilizing high-pressure wash systems and specialized cleaning compounds to treat external and internal surfaces, as well as windscreens and canopies.

Day-to-day activities extend beyond washing to include essential ground support tasks. You will install and remove protective covers, move aircraft using towing equipment, and operate various ground support and portable firefighting machinery. The role requires strict adherence to Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, hazardous waste management, and tool control programs to maintain a safe and efficient flight line environment.

Working Environment

This position operates in dynamic settings including aircraft flight lines, hangars, and maintenance shops. The work environment varies from standard shop conditions to exposure to inclement weather, including direct sunlight, wind, and rain. Employees may face high-intensity noise levels and extreme temperature fluctuations, requiring the use of protective clothing, safety equipment, and potentially respirators. The role demands physical stamina, including the ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, and lift or carry weights up to 70 pounds for extended periods.
