About the Role
This position serves as a critical link in the aircraft manufacturing process, focusing on the assembly and integration of major structural components. As a Structures Mechanic, you will be responsible for constructing complex airframe elements, including fuselage panels, bulkheads, rudders, flaps, and stabilizers. Your work ensures that these structural subassemblies meet rigorous engineering standards before integration into the final aircraft.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Your day will involve a blend of precision manual work and technical verification. You will align parts onto jigs using specialized templates and fixtures to ensure perfect positioning. The role requires performing a variety of minor part-fitting operations, such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming.
Accuracy is paramount; you will regularly measure parts using micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions against specifications. Additionally, you may be tasked with modifying both incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate necessary structural changes. Throughout the process, you will monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control procedures, ensuring every component adheres to safety and performance requirements.
