Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. The culture is defined by camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose in law enforcement aviation. AMO offers skilled pilots an opportunity to join a mission-driven organization where daily work directly impacts national security.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a skilled pilot performing aviation-based law enforcement operations. Your mission involves the detection, prevention, interdiction, and apprehension of terrorists, weapons, and contraband attempting to illegally enter or attack the United States. This is a full-time, security-based career designed for those seeking an exciting and rewarding path with exceptional federal benefits and job stability.
Day-to-day, you will conduct air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. You will monitor behavior patterns of suspect persons and assets, collect and analyze strategic intelligence, and support search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. The role demands rapid decision-making in all flight environments, including night, poor weather, and low altitudes.
AMO utilizes a streamlined application process for new recruits. There are three primary ways to apply:
Stay Updated: It is highly recommended to opt into CBP's talent repository by selecting the "Contact a Recruiter" button. Choose "Air and Marine Operations" and "Air Interdiction Agent" as your position of interest to receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Assessment & Location: Upon successful completion of a three-part assessment, you will receive a duty location offer. Locations are determined by operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any duty location within the selected region, which includes the Southeast Region (e.g., Homestead, FL), Southwest Region (e.g., Tucson, AZ; San Diego, CA), or NASOC UAS locations (e.g., Sierra Vista, AZ).
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. Veterans' preference eligibility is recognized in accordance with federal statutes, and specific age waivers may apply for veterans or those with prior creditable law enforcement service. The agency is dedicated to maintaining a professional environment where pride in service and operational excellence are paramount.
