Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. The group is defined by its camaraderie, pride, and a shared sense of purpose in its daily mission to secure the nation's borders.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will join a rewarding career in aviation-based law enforcement. Your mission is to detect, prevent, and apprehend terrorists, weapons, and contraband attempting to illegally enter or attack the United States. This role offers the opportunity to work with a skilled team of pilots and professionals in a dynamic environment that combines high-stakes law enforcement with advanced aviation operations.
You will conduct air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled goods via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels. The role involves monitoring suspect behavior, analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. It is designed for seasoned pilots and those with military training who are eager to apply their skills to a critical national security mission.
The application process is streamlined and involves a three-part assessment. Once you successfully complete this assessment, you will receive a final offer letter specifying your duty location. Please note that duty locations are assigned based on operational and mission requirements, and you must be willing to work at any location within the region you select (Southeast, Southwest, or NASOC UAS locations).
There are three ways to apply:
Stay Updated: It is highly recommended to opt into CBP's talent repository by selecting the Contact a Recruiter button. Select Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest, then complete the pre-screening questions. This ensures you receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
We are an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. The agency is committed to diversity and inclusion within its ranks.
Age and Veterans' Preference: While the maximum age for original appointment to a primary law enforcement officer within DHS is generally the day before an individual's 37th birthday, the Commissioner of CBP has approved a temporary increase to age 40 for Air Interdiction Agent positions. Veterans' preference eligibility may also affect age requirements; preference-eligible veterans must submit proof of eligibility (DD-214 Member 4 Copy) at the time of application.
