Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. The group is defined by its camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose to intercept terrorists, weapons, and contraband before they can enter or attack the United States.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will serve as a skilled pilot and law enforcement officer, performing aviation-based operations to detect, prevent, and apprehend threats. This is a unique opportunity to combine your aviation expertise with a mission-driven career in federal law enforcement.
You will be part of a security-based team where your daily mission involves conducting air patrols, surveillance, and pursuit activities against smuggled contraband via land, air, or sea. Your role extends beyond flying; you will monitor suspect behavior patterns, analyze strategic and tactical intelligence, and support search and rescue and humanitarian efforts. The position offers a dynamic day-to-day environment where you must rapidly evaluate information and make judicious decisions during in-flight operations.
AMO utilizes a streamlined application process for full-time security-based opportunities. There are three primary ways to apply:
Stay Updated: It is highly recommended to opt into CBP's talent repository by selecting the Contact a Recruiter button. Choose Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest to receive monthly updates on webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Assessment and Location: Upon successful completion of a three-part assessment, you will receive a final offer letter. Duty locations are assigned based on operational and mission requirements. You must be willing to work at any location within the selected region, including the Southeast (Homestead, FL; Aguadilla, PR), Southwest (AZ, CA, TX), or NASOC UAS locations (Sierra Vista, AZ; San Angelo, TX).
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. The agency is committed to diversity and inclusion within its ranks.
Age and Veterans: While the maximum age for original appointment to a primary law enforcement officer within DHS is generally 40 (with a temporary increase to 40 for this specific role), veterans entitled to preference eligibility under 5 U.S.C. 3312 are exempt from this maximum age restriction. Proof of Veterans' Preference (DD-214 Member 4 Copy) must be submitted at the time of application.
