Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is an elite team of highly trained professionals dedicated to protecting America. The group is defined by a strong sense of camaraderie, pride, and purpose, working daily to intercept terrorists, weapons, and contraband before they can enter or attack the United States.
As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will join a rewarding career in aviation-based law enforcement. This role is designed for skilled pilots seeking a mission-driven environment where they can utilize their expertise to detect, prevent, and apprehend threats. You will perform critical duties including air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities targeting smuggled contraband via land, air, or sea. Your day-to-day work involves monitoring suspect behavior, analyzing strategic intelligence, and supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
AMO is actively recruiting for these full-time security-based opportunities, with a particular demand for seasoned pilots and those with military training. The position offers the chance to work with an elite team while contributing to the nation's security.
There are three primary ways to apply to become an Air Interdiction Agent:
Stay Updated: It is highly recommended to opt into CBP's talent repository by selecting the Contact a Recruiter button. Select Air and Marine Operations and Air Interdiction Agent as your position of interest, then complete the pre-screening questions. This ensures you receive monthly emails regarding webinars, career expos, and future opportunities.
Assessment and Location: Upon successful completion of a three-part assessment, a duty location will be offered. You must be willing to work at any duty location within the region you select, which may include the Southeast Region (e.g., Homestead, FL), Southwest Region (e.g., Tucson, AZ; San Diego, CA), or NASOC UAS locations (e.g., Sierra Vista, AZ).
AMO values a diverse workforce and considers qualified applicants regardless of background. The agency is committed to hiring preference-eligible veterans and offers specific provisions for those with creditable law enforcement service. The culture is built on the hallmarks of an elite law enforcement team: camaraderie, pride, and a shared purpose in protecting the nation.
