About the Role
The Affordable Housing Regional Compliance Manager serves as a critical guardian of regulatory integrity for our multifamily housing portfolio in North Carolina. This role ensures that our properties strictly adhere to a complex web of federal, state, and local regulations, including LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, and County Affordable Programs. You will act as the bridge between property managers, government agencies, and tenants, overseeing tenant eligibility, verifying income documentation, and conducting audits to maintain program compliance.
This is an in-office position based out of one of our managed apartment communities in Charlotte and surrounding cities. Candidates must reside in or near these areas to effectively support our local properties. The role demands a self-starter who can take ownership of projects in a fast-paced environment, interpreting regulations to guide site staff and ensuring accurate reporting for tax credit properties and electronic submissions.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleManage site-level compliance by reviewing new applicant certifications and completing re-certification paperwork
- check_circleTrain personnel on preparing income certifications and re-certifications for Section 8 and Federally Assisted properties
- check_circleMonitor and report past due recertifications to maintain program compliance
- check_circleAddress compliance training and support needs for site staff
- check_circleMonitor correct usage of income and rent limits as well as utility allowances
- check_circleReview household certifications for all Affordable properties to ensure regulatory adherence
- check_circleReview and approve all move-in certifications and conduct quarterly reviews of annual re-certifications
- check_circleGenerate year-end building status reports for tax credit properties and ensure electronic reporting completion
Requirements
- verifiedMinimum 3 years experience in compliance of affordable Section 8 and LIHTC multifamily housing properties
- verifiedHCCP, SHCM, C3P, COS, CPO, BOS or equivalent required
- verifiedStrong knowledge of Section 8 regulations
- verifiedStrong knowledge of IRS 8823 Guide and HUD Manual 4350.3
- verifiedFormal training and/or certification in related field required (COS or CPO)
- verifiedProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- verifiedExperience working in One-Site software program preferred
