This role resides within the Grants & Special Projects unit of the Workforce Development & Lifelong Learning (WDLL) department. The team is dedicated to empowering youth and dislocated workers by connecting them with essential resources, training, and employment opportunities. As a specially funded position, this role is critical to the execution of federal and state initiatives, specifically the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), ensuring that eligible participants receive the support needed to achieve career success.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Adult Career Initiatives, this position serves as a vital liaison between the college, community agencies, and program participants. The role exists to manage the lifecycle of the Adult and Dislocated Worker (ADW) and Opportunity Youth programs, from initial recruitment and eligibility certification to ongoing case management and outcome tracking.
In this capacity, you will act as a guide for participants navigating the workforce landscape. Your day involves recruiting and advising applicants, verifying eligibility, and maintaining rigorous compliance with labor laws and federal regulations. You will coordinate work experience sites, schedule information sessions, and facilitate workshops designed to make youth work-ready. Beyond administrative oversight, the role requires active community engagement to build referral networks and connect participants with counseling and other qualified agencies. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for parents, program operators, and training providers, ensuring a cohesive support system for all involved.
This is a grant-funded appointment with a duration through August 31, 2026, contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory performance. The position is located at the New Brunswick and Perth Amboy sites, with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., including some evenings and weekends as program needs dictate.
