Airport High School is seeking dedicated support staff to join our Special Education department for the 2026-2027 school year. This role is vital to ensuring that students with special needs receive the personalized assistance required to succeed academically and socially throughout their school day.
As an Additional Educational Assistant, you will serve as a crucial partner to teachers and students in the classroom. Your day will involve assisting with classroom operations, facilitating instructional groups using provided lesson plans, and collecting data to track student progress. A significant part of your responsibilities includes supporting students with physical needs, such as loading and unloading wheelchair-bound students from buses and participating in their physical activity programs.
Success in this position requires the ability to work effectively with emotionally, physically, and mentally impaired students. You will need to maintain composure under stressful conditions while demonstrating firmness, courtesy, and fairness. The role demands strong communication skills to interact clearly with students, parents, staff, and administrators in both one-on-one and small group settings.
Candidates must meet one of the following qualification paths: a Bachelor's Degree, or a High School Diploma/GED combined with a passing WorkKeys score (Level 2) and a minimum ParaPathways score of 456.
