About the Role
This position provides essential governmental accounting support to the Department of Finance. The Accountant plays a critical role in the preparation of the City's budget and the year-end audit, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance. Decisions are made daily based on established procedures or guidance from supervisors.
Day in the Life
You will manage the inventory of City fixed assets and material supplies, preparing monthly reconciliations for items and materials issued. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to data entry and adjustments within the Incode Financial Accounting System, including General Journal Entries, Budget Adjustments, and Amendments. You will also reconcile General Ledger balances with subsidiary ledgers, such as Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable.
Your responsibilities extend to communicating with bank staff regarding transactions and ensuring adherence to the accounting and reporting requirements of grant awards. You will prepare financial analysis and schedules for internal use, the annual external financial audit, and various governmental entities. Additionally, you will assist with the City Annual Budget, the Annual Audit, and the daily reconciliation and distribution of petty cash.
Working Environment
The role is based in a well-lit, air-conditioned office with occasional work required at various City departments. The position involves standard working conditions with little hazard to health or the body, and physical demands are low.

Requirements
