About the Role

As a City Year AmeriCorps Member, you will serve as a student success coach and mentor for elementary, middle, and/or high school students. This is a paid, full-time position focused on coaching and mentoring to help students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.

You will work closely with teachers and school staff to plan and monitor individual student progress. Your day will involve supporting whole-class instruction, facilitating breakout spaces, and assisting students directly in the classroom. While experience in these specific tasks is not required, you will receive 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to prepare you for service. You will collaborate with partner teachers every step of the way to create an engaging, safe, and healthy learning environment.

In addition to direct student support, you will contribute to whole-school initiatives designed to increase engagement with students and families. This includes supporting extended day and virtual programming before, during, and after school, such as academic enrichment, homework support, recreation, and leadership development. You may also co-lead events that recognize student growth and achievement.
