Lee Health, one of the largest not-for-profit public health systems in the U.S., is seeking an Academic Physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology to join its Women's Health department. This role is a strategic partnership with the Florida State University College of Medicine, aiming to appoint a physician at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank.
The mission of the FSU College of Medicine is to educate and develop exemplary physicians who practice patient-centered health care, discover and advance knowledge, and serve communities of greatest need, particularly underserved and rural populations. The Office of Graduate Medical Education fosters optimal clinical learning environments to cultivate compassionate, culturally sensitive physicians committed to lifelong learning and community leadership.
This position is designed for a physician who is equally dedicated to clinical excellence, academic teaching, and scholarly inquiry. The successful candidate will practice in both Cape Coral and Fort Myers, providing high-quality patient care in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Beyond clinical duties, the role is deeply rooted in education. You will actively teach medical students, residents, and fellows, contributing to the development of Lee County's next generation of physicians. Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research. For those appointed at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, active engagement in scholarly activity is expected.
The role is based at Lee Health Cape Coral Hospital, the healthcare hub for Southwest Florida's largest city. As a 303-bed facility, the hospital is part of a system that sees over 100,000 patients annually and employs more than 600 physicians. It has been recognized as a Magnet Hospital, a 4-star facility by CMS, and named one of America's 100 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades for three consecutive years.
Cape Coral itself offers a unique lifestyle known as a "Waterfront Wonderland," featuring over 400 miles of navigable waterways. With an average of 355 days of sunshine annually, the city provides a vibrant community atmosphere, from bustling business districts to serene beaches and parks, making it an ideal location for those who love the outdoors.
