City Year is an AmeriCorps program dedicated to helping students across schools succeed. Our teams of AmeriCorps members provide support to students, classrooms, and the whole school, ensuring that students receive a high-quality education that prepares them with the skills and mindset to thrive and contribute to their community.
As a City Year AmeriCorps Member, you will serve as a student success coach and mentor for elementary, middle, and/or high school students. Your mission is to help students earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors at school.
You will work closely with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way. While experience in these tasks is not necessary, you will receive 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support your journey. Your day-to-day involves coaching students one-on-one and in small groups, developing literacy and math skills, and creating engaging, safe, and healthy classroom spaces. You will also support whole-school initiatives, including extended day and virtual programming, homework support, and leadership development events.
City Year AmeriCorps members are as varied as the communities we serve. We are looking for individuals who want to build themselves, give back, and are ready to change the world. To be eligible, you must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (DACA status is not eligible at this time), be between 17 and 25 years old by July 1, 2025, and have a GED, high school diploma, some college experience, or a college degree. You must be able to begin service by July/August 2025 and agree to complete a background check.
To apply, visit our website and submit your completed application online. For more information about the application process or this specific role, please visit our official website.
