The 911 Central Dispatch team is an integral part of Livingston County public safety, providing 24-hour police, fire, and emergency medical response to the community. This role offers exciting and meaningful work where you will assist the public as part of a dedicated public safety team.
As a Dispatcher, you will receive emergency calls and dispatch law enforcement officers, fire, and emergency medical services throughout the County. You will utilize specialized computer systems to secure necessary information for law enforcement personnel and enter data regarding warrants, personal protective orders, stolen vehicles, and other critical records. Your role involves continually monitoring the availability and location of emergency units and designated personnel in the field, while also providing first aid or pre-arrival instructions to callers.
This is a union position operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The role requires working assigned shifts and emergency coverage under the general supervision of the Dispatch Supervisor or management staff. Extensive dispatch and public safety training is provided to ensure you are fully prepared for the responsibilities of the job.
We are currently accepting lateral hires with a starting wage between $23.99 and $30.98 per hour. For candidates who do not have prior dispatch experience but meet the education requirements, transcripts must be sent to humanresources@livgov.com.
Candidates must be able to pass a background check; a conviction for a violation of criminal law (excluding traffic, conservation, and liquor laws) is automatically disqualifying. The position requires normal hearing and normal color vision.
