We are seeking a 2nd Class Marine Electrician to join our team in Suffolk, Virginia. In this role, you will be essential in maintaining and repairing electrical systems on US Navy surface ships and other maritime vessels. You will work under immediate supervision to install, operate, maintain, and modify equipment and structures, performing alterations and installations for fleet modernization.
Your day-to-day work involves interpreting manufacturers' manuals, blueprints, and engineering sketches to solve routine and non-routine problems. You will layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, and fiber optics aboard naval vessels, ensuring all work complies with established quality and safety procedures. This position requires a high level of technical judgment in planning work sequences, selecting tools, and testing instruments.
This role offers a dynamic work environment with significant travel opportunities. You can expect 50% travel required within and outside the continental United States. Travel perks include overtime pay, per diem, and provided hotel and transportation. The work schedule is Monday through Saturday, 10 hours a day as needed, with the flexibility to work overtime and weekends upon managerial request.
Candidates must be able to access government installations by obtaining and maintaining a Biometric Defense Identification System (DBIS) credential. The hiring process involves verifying your ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and a CAC card. Please note that this position requires the ability to work in extreme temperature environments, confined spaces, and aboard ships, potentially requiring extended periods at sea.
