About the Role

The Elementary Assistant Principal serves as a vital partner to the Principal and the Executive Director of Teaching & Learning, dedicated to fostering a positive, high-performing school culture. This role is designed to support the implementation of the MISD curriculum, ensure instructional excellence, and maintain a safe, nurturing environment for students and staff. The Assistant Principal acts as a bridge between administration, faculty, families, and the community, driving school improvement initiatives and upholding the district's commitment to equity and student success.

Day in the Life

Your day will be dynamic, balancing instructional leadership with operational management. You will conduct classroom observations and engage in professional conferences with teachers to support their growth and align with T-TESS standards. A significant portion of your time will be spent cultivating school climate by facilitating team building, resolving conflicts, and promoting positive student behavior across hallways, cafeterias, and classrooms.

You will also play a key role in personnel development, assisting with the recruitment, mentoring, and assessment of new hires. From coordinating faculty meetings to managing campus schedules and safety drills, you will ensure the school runs smoothly while maximizing instructional time. Additionally, you will represent the school at PTA meetings and district board sessions, strengthening home-school connections and community relations.

Hiring Process

Candidates selected for an interview will be evaluated based on their leadership experience, instructional knowledge, and alignment with the district's mission. The process typically includes an initial screening, followed by interviews with the Principal and district leadership. Finalists may be asked to present on a specific topic related to school improvement or instructional leadership.
