You will join the Education Division of the Massachusetts Department of Correction to deliver essential academic instruction within a secure correctional setting. This role is designed to support adult incarcerated individuals who may face medical, psychosocial, or educational deficits, helping them navigate their educational journey through Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
The position requires a unique blend of instructional expertise and the ability to interact professionally with an adult incarcerated population. You will utilize research-based practices and current instructional methods to ensure effective learning, while also managing critical administrative tasks such as student attendance, case plan updates, and standardized testing administration (including TABE and HiSET). Success in this role involves collaborating with administration and other professionals to enhance strategic goals and contribute to the progression of the Division's mission.

Eligibility Requirements Applicants must possess a valid Teacher's Certificate issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Additionally, candidates must have no felony convictions. The Department of Correction strictly prohibits hiring anyone who has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other institution, or who has been convicted of sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, threats, or coercion. The agency also considers incidents of sexual harassment when determining eligibility for roles involving contact with incarcerated individuals.
