The Youth Counselor serves as a vital guardian of safety and a creator of joy for children at the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club. This role exists to ensure every child experiences a positive, healthy, and secure environment that aligns with the Club's mission, vision, and core values. From setting up activity areas to breaking them down, the Counselor is the backbone of the daily Kids' Club operations.
In this position, you will be more than just a supervisor; you will be an active participant in the fun. You will engage directly in camp activities such as golf, tennis, fishing, and field games, helping to foster a sense of community and excitement. The role also involves bringing creativity to the table by developing new ideas to enhance the Kids' Club experience and assisting with special seasonal events like Brunch with Santa, the Easter Bunny Bash, Halloween, and Movie Nights.
A typical day requires a blend of organization and high energy. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate sign-in and sign-out sheets, ensuring you always know the location of every child under your care. The atmosphere you cultivate is critical: it must be one where children feel safe to explore and play while parents feel confident in the Club's care.
The role demands adaptability, as you will work a varied schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays. You will operate in both indoor and extreme outdoor conditions, requiring physical stamina and the ability to work effectively under pressure. As a representative of the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club, you are expected to adhere to the employee dress code, wearing the Club-provided uniform with pride.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and have a minimum of one year of related experience in a camp setting. CPR/AED certification is required. Please submit your application including proof of certification and a summary of your relevant experience to the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club recruitment team.
