About the Role
As a Yard Hostler, you will be the backbone of our terminal operations, ensuring the seamless movement of freight and equipment. This role is designed for individuals who take pride in maintaining a safe, efficient, and clean work environment. You will be responsible for moving trailers from door to door within the yard, hooking and unhooking them from tractors, and managing the loading and unloading of freight according to strict Bills of Lading and delivery specifications.
Your day will involve a mix of physical activity and technical skill, from operating 10-speed transmission tractors and backing various van sizes to inspecting equipment for safety compliance. You will also play a key role in optimizing trailer space utilization to minimize damage risks and maintaining the cleanliness of docks, trailers, and yard areas.
