As a Per Diem X-Ray Technologist at MidState Medical Center in Meriden, you will operate equipment and perform radiological and therapeutic examinations. Your primary focus is on the proper positioning of patients and the preparation of contrast media to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment. You will work within a collaborative team environment, communicating effectively with patients, relatives, and medical staff to ensure quality service.
In this role, you will produce technically excellent images by selecting correct exposure factors based on patient age and diagnosis. You may also participate in complex invasive radiological procedures, assisting radiologists to provide essential therapeutic and diagnostic services. A key part of your day involves maintaining radiation safety standards to protect patients, yourself, and staff, as well as ensuring all radiological equipment is kept in good operating order and properly disinfected after use.
You will also play a vital role in the educational aspect of the department by providing clinical supervision and instruction to students, evaluating their growth and competence in performing radiographic procedures. Your work requires adherence to established policies and procedures set by the department, hospital, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA.
This is a Per Diem position designed to cover open shifts as needed. The ideal candidate must commit to working at least two shifts per month to remain active. Shifts may occur on weekdays or weekends, and you may be required to rotate on weekend and/or holiday schedules. You may also be asked to cover ancillary offices as needed. The role involves physical demands such as lifting and walking, and includes OSHA Class 1 exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
