The Welder is a vital member of our production team, dedicated to delivering high-quality customer fabrication orders with precision and on schedule. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will work closely with the Production Manager and Supervisor to ensure every weld meets rigorous safety and quality standards. This role is designed for individuals who take pride in their craft and understand that maintaining a safe working environment is just as critical as the final product.
Your work begins with a careful review of engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to plan your welding operations. You will select the appropriate torches, tips, and filler rods based on the specific metals and thicknesses involved, whether working with aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, or other alloys. Using a combination of hand and power tools, you will lay out, position, and secure parts in flat, vertical, or overhead positions before executing the weld.
Throughout the shift, you will monitor the fitting and burning processes to prevent common issues like warping or distortion. Once the welding is complete, you will inspect the workpieces for defects, measuring them against specifications to ensure accuracy. The role requires a keen eye for detail to mark materials with job numbers and identify any faulty equipment or defective materials immediately. You will also be responsible for maintaining your workspace by cleaning parts and performing basic repairs to keep production flowing smoothly.
