As a Welder, you will be the backbone of our drilling unit's maintenance operations, responsible for fabricating, maintaining, and repairing critical drilling equipment and auxiliary systems. This role is vital to ensuring operational continuity and safety in high-pressure environments. You will work directly with the maintenance department and drill crews to execute repairs and fabrications that meet strict manufacturer specifications, including high-pressure pipe and well heads.
Your day-to-day involves a dynamic mix of hands-on welding, equipment maintenance, and coordination. You will be expected to maintain welding equipment in safe working condition, manage hazardous waste disposal (specifically in the Gulf of Mexico), and instruct helpers on proper tool usage and safety protocols. Success in this position requires strong communication skills to coordinate daily schedules, prioritize work orders, and report detailed work logs to the Welding Superintendent or, in international operations, the OIM or Barge Master.
While this role does not typically carry formal supervisory responsibilities, you will play a key role in the team's efficiency by supporting third-party interactions and ensuring all rig activities run smoothly. You must be proficient in the Enterprise Offshore Preventative Maintenance System and capable of performing heavy work, including lifting and moving objects up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Candidates must possess a valid 6-G welding certification and a minimum of one year of experience in welding, fitting, and fabrication of high-pressure pipe works. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, though demonstrated ability in oral and written communications may substitute for formal education. Please ensure your application highlights your specific experience with offshore drilling equipment and your proficiency with preventative maintenance systems.
