The Town of Nags Head is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Water Plant team. This position is vital to our mission of producing a safe and adequate supply of properly treated water for our community. You will perform a variety of operational, maintenance, and laboratory duties, ensuring the continuous and efficient functioning of our water infrastructure.
This role is dynamic and requires a hands-on approach. Your day will involve operating water pumps, electric motors, and chemical feed machines, potentially utilizing telemetry and other advanced technologies. You will collect water samples, perform standard analyses, and interpret results to adjust chemical feed levels as necessary. Beyond technical operations, you will manage equipment repairs, handle chemical deliveries, and maintain detailed records of all work activities.
The role also includes a strong customer service component. You will be the first point of contact for after-hours calls, assisting residents with issues such as turning water on or investigating water quality concerns. Additionally, you will maintain the physical plant grounds and facilities, ensuring a clean and safe environment for operations.
Please note: This position requires shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Graduation from high school supplemented by chemistry, biology, or mechanical maintenance course work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
