The Waste Management Manager serves as a critical component of the Tech2 Solutions (Tetra Tech-Sealaska Joint Venture) Project Team supporting the N3B Los Alamos LLC team. This position is dedicated to the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract (LLCC) at the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
The role focuses on the comprehensive management of waste activities associated with groundwater sampling, surface water monitoring, drilling, and well rehabilitation. You will oversee the identification, characterization, collection, storage, packaging, and disposal of waste streams, ensuring strict adherence to environmental regulations and project goals.
Your work involves a dynamic blend of field oversight and data management. You will update purge water and poly water storage tank inventories on a daily basis, preparing detailed reports and preliminary waste determinations for final disposition. A significant portion of your time will be spent interfacing with internal project personnel to review chemical hazards, determine appropriate characterization strategies, and ensure waste segregation protocols are in place before waste generation begins.
You will manage the equipment required for waste storage, assisting with the procurement and distribution of frac tanks, poly tanks, drums, and totes. Additionally, you will provide guidance on compliance for various waste streams, including New Mexico Special Waste, RCRA waste, Radioactive waste, and TSCA waste. Your responsibilities include planning and executing characterization sampling, performing site inspections and audits, and administering internal and external regulatory audits.
