About the Mission

The Correctional Managed Care team is dedicated to addressing the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD). Our work ensures that individuals in correctional facilities receive essential medical attention in a secure and compassionate environment.

About the Role

As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of patients within a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. This role is vital for maintaining the health and safety of the population under our care. You will work within the scope of your education and demonstrated abilities to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care. Your day-to-day responsibilities include administering medications, executing physician orders, and documenting patient status while adhering to strict infection control and isolation procedures. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage patient care priorities and respond to potential crises, ensuring that privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times.

Work Environment & Requirements

This position is located within the confines of a correctional facility. To ensure the safety of staff and patients, a security clearance is required, and pre-employment drug testing is mandatory. We welcome recent graduates with temporary permits to apply.
