BAE Systems is seeking an on-site System Administrator to support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. This role is critical to maintaining the digital engineering environment for the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), which has been the sole source partner for the sea-based Strategic Weapon System (SWS) since the 1950s.
The SWS is the first leg of the U.S. nuclear triad and the ultimate stealthy weapon system. With over 70% of the nation's nuclear arsenal, its importance to maintaining world peace cannot be overstated. The program is currently developing the Columbia submarine and the next D5LE2 weapon system, with projections for operational service through 2084. This unique program offers a total lifespan of more than 120 years, providing a legacy of stability and significant growth for capable individuals.
As a decades-long partner, BAE Systems employees on this program understand they are part of an important legacy. Working here means using your passion and ingenuity to defend national security with breakthrough technology, superior products, and intelligence solutions. You will continually hone your skills on a team making a big impact on a global scale.
You will support a Microsoft Active Directory environment with day-to-day administration and analysis of Account Provisioning on a classified network. This position requires accuracy, integrity, subject matter expertise, and the ability to work well independently and with others.
In this role, you will serve as a technical escalation point for complex hardware and software issues related to the server and network infrastructure. You will be responsible for installing, configuring, hardening, patching, tuning, and upgrading the VMware infrastructure and storage area network (SAN) in accordance with System Security Policies and DISA STIGs. Your day-to-day activities will include monitoring the performance of the infrastructure, tuning virtual machines, and administering a mixed environment of Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.
You will develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell and bash to automate administrative tasks, streamline processes, and improve efficiency. Proactively monitoring environment health and performance is essential, as you will provide incident response for system-level issues and perform root cause analysis. You will also collaborate on the development, testing, and modification of the virtualized environment and related applications. Travel to off-site locations is required.
This position will be posted for at least 5 calendar days. The posting will remain active until the position is filled or a qualified pool of candidates is identified. Interested candidates should apply directly through the BAE Systems career portal.
BAE Systems is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a diverse workforce and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can succeed.
