About the Role
We are seeking a natural-born leader to serve as the VP of Underwriting Management for our Commercial Contract Surety division in Columbus, GA. In this highly visible leadership role, you will own the P&L, marketing, operations, and team leadership for a profitable and sustainable book of business. You will act as a strategic partner to the company president and executive board, ensuring broad company goals are pursued through the direct management of a team of senior underwriters.
Your day-to-day will involve interacting directly with executives and customer leadership to drive growth. You will review prepared quotes, conduct marketing visits to develop new customer relationships, and lead both tactical and strategic planning to expand market influence. A key part of your mission is to ensure adherence to industry best practices and internal requirements, including maintaining the underwriting guide, rates, and forms. You will also be responsible for creating new policy forms and generating innovative marketing approaches to foster business development.
