At Electra, we're building the EL9 - a nine-passenger, hybrid-electric aircraft that takes off and lands in 150 feet. Our Ultra Short technology unlocks thousands of new operating locations and enables what we call Direct Aviation: quiet, point-to-point regional travel that gets people from where they are to where they want to go, without the congestion of major airports or the noise of conventional aviation.
A global company headquartered in Manassas, VA, Electra is backed by Lockheed Martin, Honeywell, and Safran. We have filed for FAA Part 23 type certification and carry 2,000+ intent to purchase from operators worldwide. We are a team of approximately 100 people moving fast toward first EL9 test flights in 2027 and certification by late 2029 or 2030. Every hire matters at this stage, and this role is no exception.
The Role
As our VP of Finance & Accounting, you will serve as the senior finance leader responsible for all accounting and financial operations at a rapidly scaling aerospace manufacturing company. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where you will own the controllership, build the financial infrastructure, and drive the ERP system work critical to our path to certification and commercialization.
You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and operations leadership. Your mission is to build the financial foundation that supports Electra's growth from a development-stage startup to a certified aircraft manufacturer. You will oversee a broad spectrum of functions including accounting, FP&A, treasury, financial reporting, audit coordination, manufacturing finance, DCAA compliance, and international accounting. Additionally, you will help lead the ERP system selection, implementation, and operation, which is one of the company's most important near-term priorities.

Key Responsibilities

- check_circleBuild scalable finance infrastructure, reporting frameworks, and operational controls
- check_circleLead manufacturing finance and cost accounting functions supporting production ramp
- check_circleOversee inventory accounting, standard costing, margin analysis, and operational performance metrics
- check_circleLead annual operating plans, forecasting processes, and long-range financial modeling
- check_circleDevelop KPI dashboards and financial analytics supporting executive decision-making

Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- verifiedCPA required
- verified15+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience
- verifiedExperience in aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, defense, or similarly complex operational industries
- verifiedHands-on experience with ERP system selection, implementation, and/or operation
- verifiedExperience with DCAA compliance and government contract accounting
Nice to Have
MBA. Experience with venture-backed or growth-stage organizations. Prior DCAA compliance and government contract accounting experience. Experience with international subsidiaries and intercompany accounting. Experience with Unanet, SAP Hana, Netsuite, or IFS. Aerospace manufacturing environment experience.
