The Relief Veterinarian serves as a vital link in delivering preventative care, diagnosis, and treatment for pets. This role exists to ensure that pets receive high-quality medical attention regardless of the specific hospital's staffing needs. You will act as an advocate for the pet, presenting treatment recommendations and associated fees with compassion and clarity to gain client agreement on the most appropriate care for the pet's current condition and long-term health.
In this position, you will manage a dynamic workflow that may require flexibility with hours, including weekends and evenings, to meet client needs. You will utilize safe restraining techniques and maintain sterile, organized treatment areas to ensure the safety of pets, clients, and associates. Your day will involve obtaining medical histories, educating clients on preventative care, and effectively communicating diagnosis and treatment plans to both the veterinary medical team and pet owners. You will also be responsible for adhering to all local, state, and federal laws, including the proper maintenance of controlled substance inventories.
