The VAD Coordinator is an experienced Registered Nurse who serves as a clinical expert and leadership consultant within Emory Healthcare and the larger community. This role is dedicated to ensuring high-quality, efficient, and compliant care for the VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) patient population across the entire continuum of care.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and physicians to manage the clinical care of pre- and post-implant patients. Your day-to-day involves coordinating clinical evaluations for potential candidates, managing discharge plans, and providing essential follow-up consultations. You will act as a vital bridge between the hospital and the community, serving as a consultant to referring specialists and primary care providers while ensuring all patients have identified primary care physicians.
Beyond direct patient care, you will play a key educational role. You will develop educational materials and lead classes for nursing staff, patients, families, and community health professionals regarding VAD evaluation, clinical management, and safety measures. You will also evaluate the competency of clinical staff and community resources to ensure the highest standards of care.
