As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at Stormont Vail Health, you will produce two-dimensional and three-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs to assist physicians in diagnosing disease and studying organ malfunctions. This patient-facing role is critical to our clinical mission, requiring you to operate sophisticated imaging equipment, adjust transducers for specific examinations, and capture high-quality diagnostic data on various media.
Your day involves more than just scanning; you will explain procedures to patients, instruct them on positioning, and ensure their comfort throughout the exam. You will be responsible for entering accurate data into the Lumedx (PACS) system, maintaining equipment through proper disinfection protocols, and participating in quality improvement evaluations. For cardiac sonographers, this may also include performing IV punctures to inject endocardial border enhancing agents.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative team atmosphere while mentoring Washburn University students. You will be expected to demonstrate flexibility, take initiative, and maintain a professional appearance while adhering to strict departmental protocols. Rotating call is a requirement for this role, though specific locations (Manhattan/Emporia) are exempt.
