Due to growth and expansion, Northern Star (Pogo) LLC offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Mobile Equipment Mechanic Apprentice at our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska. This position is a unique combination of site-based work and attending classes at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) as part of the UAF Diesel/Heavy Equipment Program.
As a full-time employee with Pogo Mine, you will work on-site while simultaneously pursuing your education. You will join a vibrant hub of activity, becoming part of a successful and productive team in a dynamic work environment where you are valued as an integral part of the business. This role offers a permanent position with extended mine-life, providing job security and ongoing development opportunities within a company that continuously invests in its people.
When not attending courses in Fairbanks, you will work a 2-week on, 1-week-off rotational schedule. This involves rotating days and nights, working up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. The environment presents extreme conditions, including changing weather, dust, mud, varying noise levels, and confined work areas.
Employees are required to stay on-site at the company-provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities include dining services, a games room, an exercise and weight room, a sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms are equipped with land-line phones, Wi-Fi, and cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The company provides bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction, and Tok, Alaska.
