This position serves as a vital link in the depot mission, driving gas or diesel-powered trucks to pick up, transport, and deliver parts, materials, equipment, and components to pre-determined destinations. The role involves operating vehicles weighing up to 4 tons (14,000 lbs) both on and off government installations, navigating through light to heavy traffic conditions. Drivers are responsible for transporting HAZMAT materials as necessary to support operational goals.
You will work under the supervision of an Operations Manager or Unit Lead, receiving daily assignments from a Dispatcher. The job requires a blend of independent driving and active communication, as you will report and receive direction via radio or cellular phone throughout the day. Beyond driving, the role includes assisting in the loading and unloading of materials, securing loads to ensure safe arrival, and performing daily preventive maintenance adjustments on the truck.

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position governed by the Service Contract Act (SCA). In addition to the base hourly rate, you may be eligible for an additional health and welfare payment to comply with SCA minimums, the amount of which varies based on selected fringe benefits.
