About the Role

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to fill the unique position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver) at our Frederick, MD facility. This role is designed for licensed CDL Class B or Class A drivers seeking supplemental income through a casual, on-call part-time schedule. You will be responsible for the delivery of vehicles to Penske locations and customers, primarily moving box trucks up to 26 feet. With a CDL Class A, your duties may also include tractor and trailer movement. Additionally, you may provide support to the service department by delivering parts and equipment.

This position offers flexibility, allowing you to work anywhere from 0 to 25 hours per week based on business needs. The role is ideal for those who can work independently, possess strong organizational skills, and maintain a positive attitude while adhering to strict safety protocols.

Hiring Process

As this position is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and designated as safety-sensitive, the hiring process includes several mandatory steps to ensure compliance and safety:

Application: Complete the Penske employment application.
Background Investigation: Submit to a comprehensive background check, including past employment, education, and criminal history.
Drug Screening: CDL holders must complete a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of starting.
DOT Compliance: Maintain a current driver qualification file, which includes an annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check, a successfully completed DOT Physical, and a Safety Performance History records request from prior employers.
FMCSA Review: Subject to a FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
