About the Role

The Tribal Construction Coordinator is a pivotal Bethel-based position dedicated to the Residential Construction program within the AVCP region. This role serves as the operational bridge between project conceptualization and successful close-out, ensuring that construction activities are planned, scheduled, budgeted, and directed with precision.

You will partner closely with Tribal Construction Lead Carpenters, Directors, and community stakeholders to oversee the organization and implementation of projects ranging from initial planning to final completion. The position requires extensive travel throughout the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region via small aircraft, boat, snow machine, or truck to conduct site visits that can last from a couple of days to several weeks. Your work ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget while maintaining strong relationships with the community and protecting the company's interests.

Work Environment & Culture

This role operates in a dynamic, often rugged environment. You will be frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration, as well as extreme weather conditions at various construction sites. Noise levels can be loud, and the position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions. AVCP provides necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), including face masks, gloves, hard hats, safety glasses, and vests, which must be worn on job sites.

We are committed to developing and maintaining a culturally sensitive work environment that honors the needs of the Tribes of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region. As a leader in this space, you will encourage open two-way communication to enhance job satisfaction and morale, ensuring staff have the tools and training required to succeed. You will also play a key role in updating departmental policies to improve project management standardization and systemized processes.

Application Instructions

Applicants must demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position and show aptitude for growth. While a high school diploma and two years of field construction, management, or administrative experience are preferred, the most critical qualification is a thorough understanding of the local culture and tribal needs. Bilingual proficiency in Yup'ik and English is preferred. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Equal Opportunity

AVCP is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, ensuring a fair and equitable hiring process.
