This 13-week contract opportunity is based at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA, supporting the inpatient pharmacy operations. The role is designed to ensure the timely and safe delivery of medications to patients across the hospital, including STAT orders, IV medications, and new prescriptions. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining operational readiness, managing automated dispensing workflows, and supporting the broader pharmacy team in delivering efficient patient care.
You will work a 40-hour week split between two shifts: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, both including breaks, with a rotating weekend schedule. Your daily responsibilities will involve transporting and handling medications in compliance with hospital policies and USP standards, ensuring they are delivered prior to scheduled administration times. You will support Pyxis and automated dispensing cabinet workflows by sorting medications, managing stock levels, and troubleshooting discrepancies. Additionally, you will assist with central pharmacy operations, including carousel inventory management, pre-packaging, and pneumatic tube station workflows, while maintaining accurate documentation within pharmacy systems.
Candidates must possess a valid Massachusetts pharmacy technician license and National Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or ExCPT) certification, along with BLS certification. Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) status is considered a valuable asset. The onboarding process includes a Core Exam (Allied/Non-Nursing), an Ishihara Colorvision Screening, and a Pharmacist Exam.
