About the Role
TravelNurseSource is partnering with Prime Staffing to recruit a Registered Nurse for the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Pre-Post Op department in Baltimore, Maryland. This 12-week contract offers a dynamic opportunity to work within a 28-bay unit that provides 24/7 specialized peri-anesthesia care to patients across the entire lifespan, from neonates to geriatrics.
The Main PACU serves a diverse patient population undergoing scheduled or emergency surgery across more than 20 surgical and procedural services. The team's versatility ensures that nurses gain a wide variety of clinical experiences, making this an ideal environment for the life-long learner. Nurses in this role will provide vigilant pre- and post-operative care, managing patients with a broad spectrum of acuity. The unit requires strong competency in critical skills such as vasopressor titration, airway management, care of ventilated patients, blood product administration, and fluid resuscitation.

Hiring Process & Application
Candidates for this position must be prepared to navigate a streamlined compliance process. Travelers are required to complete lab work within 72 hours of signing their contract, with all compliance documents due five days prior to the start date. Please note that this facility operates as an "Auto Offer Unit," meaning candidates must accept the offer without a traditional interview process.
Scheduling requests cannot be guaranteed, and travelers are expected to be comfortable floating within scope to other PACU, pre-op, ICU, and sister facilities as needed. The unit operates on a rotating schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week, with weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage required. Specific on-call shifts occur every four weeks, and weekend coverage averages three shifts per four-week period.

Important Compliance Notes:

- Former Staff: Individuals who were formerly staff within the health system must be away for 12 months before returning as a traveler.
- Vaccinations: The flu vaccine is required with no exemptions; the COVID-19 vaccine is not required.
