About the Role

This opportunity is for a Registered Nurse to join the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Main Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at a Level I Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD. The Main PACU is a dynamic 28-bay unit providing 24/7 specialized peri-anesthesia care to patients across the entire lifespan, from neonates to geriatrics. The unit serves a broad array of surgical and medical specialties, offering a variety of clinical experiences for the life-long learner.

In this role, you will provide vigilant pre- and post-operative care to inpatients and outpatients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgery. The team's versatility allows you to work with more than 20 surgical and procedural services. You will be expected to manage complex patient needs, including the titration of vasopressors, airway management, care of ventilated patients, blood product administration, and fluid resuscitation. While the unit handles a wide spectrum of acuity, the role specifically requires strong ICU experience, with a preference for candidates who have a background in both ICU and PACU settings.

Compliance & Onboarding:

• Licensing: An active MD or Compact RN license is required at the time of submission.
• Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA only) are mandatory. A CPI certification (Calm Every Storm online version) is also required for compliance.
• Onboarding: Travelers are required to complete labs within 72 hours of signing the contract. All compliance documents must be submitted 5 days prior to the start date.

Travel & Scheduling Policies:

• Location: This role is for travelers only; locals under 50 miles from the hospital address are not accepted.
• Schedule: The contract involves rotating 12-hour shifts (Days and Nights) with a requirement for weekend coverage (3 shifts per 4-week period) and on-call duties.
• Float: Candidates must be comfortable floating within the specialty, to other units (PACU, Pre-op, ICU), and to sister facilities within scope.
• Extensions: Most locations allow for one contract and one extension, after which a 6-month break is required before returning to the same facility.
