About the Unit
Located on the 5th floor of Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS, this Postpartum/Mother-Baby unit is a close-knit family of nurses and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) who work collaboratively on a busy floor. The unit manages 29 beds with a staff of 61, handling approximately 400-500 deliveries per month.
While the main unit focuses on high-risk postpartum patients, low-risk patients are cared for in a separate, free-standing LDRP facility across the street. The team operates with a flexible scheduling approach and is committed to working with travel nurses to ensure seamless coverage.
About the Role
As a Registered Nurse on the Night Shift (7 PM to 7 AM), you will join a dynamic team caring for mothers and newborns. You will be responsible for managing patient ratios of 3-4 couplets per RN, utilizing Meditech EMR and CPN monitors. Your day-to-day will involve critical tasks such as POC glucose monitoring, breastfeeding support, postpartum hemorrhage management, hypertension assessment, and assisting with circumcisions.
This role requires a positive attitude and a dedication to patient care. You will be expected to adhere to HCA ICARE standards of behavior while maintaining a supportive environment for both staff and families.
