Join the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a Level I Trauma, Teaching, and Children's Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. This role offers the opportunity to care for patients with complex neurologic disorders, including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (SAH), and status epilepticus, within a high-acuity environment.
With the recent opening of a new tower, there is a possibility that travelers may be asked to switch to the Cardiothoracic ICU (CTVICU). If a switch occurs, the traveler's current bill rate will be honored. This position is ideal for nurses seeking to expand their critical care skills in a comprehensive stroke center setting.
As a Registered Nurse in the Neuro ICU, you will manage a patient ratio of 1:2 during night shifts. Your day will involve managing ventilated patients, interpreting dysrhythmias, and performing specialized procedures such as EVD insertions, A-line insertions, and CRRT. You will also provide post-operative neurosurgical care and manage patients recovering from thrombectomies.
While the primary focus is the Neuro ICU, you may be floated to other ICUs, Progressive Care Units (PCU), the Emergency Department, or the PACU to care for admitted patients. Occasionally, ratios may increase to 6:1 on PCU floors, though this is not the standard. The unit is supported by an interdisciplinary team including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams.
This is a travel nursing position with a strict 100-mile radius rule; locals within 100 miles of Albuquerque are not eligible. A valid driver's license is required for compliance, or a written transportation plan must be submitted if a license is unavailable.
