About the Role

The Transportation Support Coordinator is a remote position designed for individuals who want to learn the freight industry from the ground up. This role serves as a foundational step for those looking to transition into becoming an Independent Freight Dispatcher. You will work from home, assisting drivers, dispatchers, brokers, and operations teams, brokers, and internal operations to keep freight moving without delays.

Day in the Life

In this role, you will organize schedules, communicate critical updates, verify essential documents, and help prevent common dispatch issues. Your primary focus is on providing drivers with updated instructions, addresses, and appointment times. You will track ETAs, monitor for delays or breakdowns, and consider Hours of Service (HOS) regulations to ensure compliance and safety. When road issues arise, you will help drivers resolve them quickly and professionally.

You will also coordinate loads by confirming pickup and delivery appointments. This involves tracking loads and providing real-time updates to brokers and shippers. A key part of the job is verifying Bills of Lading (BOLs) and Proof of Delivery (PODs) to ensure the freight matches the bill, preventing wrong-load issues. You will estimate realistic load and unload times to prevent overscheduling and tight back-to-back appointment windows.

Documentation is a significant component of the role. You will upload all paperwork into the Transportation Management System (TMS), track detention, layover, and TONU opportunities, and TONU opportunities, and maintain clean and accurate load notes. Additionally, you will handle customer and broker communication by sending check calls and status updates. You will notify brokers of any changes or delays and work to maintain positive, professional relationships with shippers and brokers.
