This Operations position serves as the backbone of our Delivery department, responsible for supervising daily activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant service. The role exists to bridge the gap between operational strategy and frontline execution, managing delivery staff while upholding strict adherence to government regulations and safety standards.
In this position, you will lead a team of Delivery Associates, overseeing their daily work, safety protocols, and adherence to planned routes. Your day involves managing labor hours and supplies within budget, preparing complex work schedules, and ensuring the proper utilization of company assets. You will act as a key liaison between the delivery team, Sales Management, and Marketing, collaborating to resolve customer issues and assess delivery challenges at client locations.
Beyond logistics, this role is deeply rooted in people management. You will foster associate relations through regular meetings, maintain open communication channels, and monitor team morale. The position requires interpreting and enforcing company policies, including food safety and DOT regulations, while coordinating with the Safety department on training, accident investigations, and routine inspections. You will also be expected to perform the duties of the associates you supervise when necessary, ensuring continuity of operations.
Candidates selected for this role will be required to complete a Sysco-approved defensive driving program. A valid Class A Commercial Driver License meeting company standards is mandatory. While HazMat certification is preferred, the successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work non-traditional business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, and be willing to travel to other operating companies or the corporate office as business needs dictate.
