Ascension is a leading nonprofit Catholic health system with a culture grounded in service, growth, care, and connection. We empower our 99,000+ associates to reimagine healthcare together. Recognized as one of the Best 150+ Places to Work in Healthcare and a Military-Friendly Gold Employer, we foster an inclusive and supportive environment where contributions truly matter.
This role is based at Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin, TX, within the Stem Cell Transplant department. You will join a team dedicated to high-stakes patient care, ensuring that financial barriers do not impede life-saving treatments.
In this position, you will serve as the primary administrative bridge between transplant surgeons, clinical coordinators, social workers, and payer medical directors. Your mission is to execute the end-to-end financial clearance process for high-value heart, bone marrow, and kidney transplant portfolios, guaranteeing 100% benefit optimization prior to clinical milestones.
You will navigate complex insurance landscapes, architecting Single Case Agreements (SCAs) and eliminating out-of-network operational barriers. Beyond the technicalities of insurance, you will provide compassionate financial counseling to patients and their support systems, educating them on long-term insurance nuances, life-long immunosuppressant drug costs, and targeted out-of-pocket liabilities. Your work ensures that eligible patients are proactively enrolled in state Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), charity care, and pharmaceutical copay assistance programs, protecting the program's bottom line while safeguarding patient access to care.
Prospective applicants should be vigilant against fraudulent job offers. Ascension will never ask for payment or banking information as part of the application process. Legitimate communications will always originate from an @ascension.org email address, and official offers are extended only to candidates who have completed an application through our authorized applicant tracking system.
