The IT Configuration Analyst serves as a journeyman-level leader in configuration management, ensuring the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) accurately reflects the enterprise's infrastructure, applications, and services. This position is critical for maintaining a trusted data foundation that drives decision-making across the IT environment. By owning both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives, the analyst ensures configuration data is complete, reliable, and actionable.
Operating as a key liaison between operations, engineering, and service management stakeholders, the role supports stable, efficient, and compliant IT service delivery. The analyst leads configuration audits, drives data quality improvements, and establishes governance activities that underpin effective incident, change, and problem management. In a regulated federal IT environment, this role aligns configuration management plans with ITIL practices and enterprise policies to ensure rigorous traceability and service impact reporting.
