About the Role
As a Tow Truck Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient recovery and transportation of vehicles in a variety of situations, including breakdowns, accidents, and illegal parking enforcement. Your expertise will be essential in operating and maintaining tow trucks and related equipment to provide timely roadside assistance and vehicle recovery services.
You will work closely with dispatchers, law enforcement, and customers to coordinate towing operations while adhering to safety regulations and company policies. This role demands a strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure in diverse weather and traffic conditions. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to minimizing vehicle downtime and enhancing customer satisfaction through professional and reliable service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circlePerform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and safety checks on tow trucks
- check_circleDiagnose, repair, and install hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical tow truck components
- check_circleOperate heavy-duty fabrication tools including grinders, welders, and cutting torches
- check_circleConduct detailed diagnostics to identify equipment failures and system malfunctions
- check_circleDocument all work performed including repairs, parts used, and inspection findings
- check_circleCollaborate with service advisors and parts staff to ensure efficient workflow
- check_circleMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA standards

Requirements
- verifiedAppropriate state driver's license with a clean driving record
- verified1–2 years of experience as a mechanic, service technician, or equipment repair technician
- verifiedBasic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- verifiedAbility to use standard hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely
- verifiedAbility to read and understand basic repair instructions, diagrams, and equipment manuals
- verifiedExperience using fabrication tools such as grinders, welders, and cutting torches
- verifiedAbility to lift 50–75 lbs
- verifiedCDL (commercial drivers license) is a plus
- verifiedWelding certification or formal training in fabrication or mechanical repair
- verifiedHydraulic system certification or hands‑on training
- verifiedAutomotive or diesel technician schooling (ASE or equivalent certifications)

Previous experience working on tow trucks, wreckers, rollbacks, or other recovery vehicles. Welding certification or formal training in fabrication or mechanical repair. Experience working within a dealership, manufacturing, or upfitting environment.
